Kelvin Farrell | 21st November, 2015 at 9:30am

Fire services from Ardee and surrounding towns were called to an isolated fire which broke out in the town on Friday night. The incident took place shortly before 10:00pm, as a barn and its content caught fire on the Dundalk Road, close to the Fair Green.

Large flames and smoke were visible in the vicinity and the emergency services were quick on the scene, tending to the fire in increasingly strong winds. Motorists were diverted to avoid the area while the incident was ongoing. Within two hours the fire appeared under control.

Some were evacuated, temporarily, from their homes but only as a preucation. It is not yet known how the fire started, with Gardaí still investigating the scene late on Friday night
