New tea rooms for Ardee’s Irish Street

A new shop and tea rooms will open in the former J Malone shop on Irish Street in the town later this summer.

The Bliss Tea Rooms will be run by Mark and Martina Coscoran and has been on the cards for some months after the bought the building and were granted conditional planning permission to begin the work in Mid-March.

Formerly May Muckian’s sweet shop, it will be fondly remembered by locals of a certain vintage. The shop front is currently under a Louth County Council conversation order meaning that only certain work can be carried out on the exterior shopfront.

To avoid any work or alterations to the existing vintage J Malone sign, the new shopfront signage will be mounted above the existing sign (pictured above). There will also be special conservation repair and refurbishment to the timber shopfront.

The new venture will consist of a small shop on the ground floor of the building and a tea room up stairs.
