Supporter Giveaway: Two copies of I Found My Tribe up for grabs

To celebrate Ruth Fitzmaurice claiming the Newcomer of the Year prize at Tuesday evening’s Bord Gais Energy Irish Book Awards, has two copies of her bestselling memoir I Found My Tribe to giveaway.

This competition is open exclusively to‘s Patreon supporters. If you’ve signed up to pledge €1 or €2 a week to help us continue our work, this is the first competition of many you can look forward to as a supporter. We’ll have a host of great giveaways to come, so be sure to keep an eye out for those.

This week, two lucky supporters will receive a paperback copy of I Found My Tribe, Fitzmaurice’s stunning debut which topped the Irish Times bestseller list upon it’s release last summer. You must be a supporter to be in with a chance to win.

All current Patreon supporters will be automatically entered into the draw, which will will take place at 12pm on Friday December 1st. Anyone who signs up for our supporter scheme before then will also be added to the draw. Two winners will be picked at random and announced on

With advertising revenues sporadic, financial support from our readers is vital to ensure the business is secure. Since our launch in January 2015, we have not asked for financial support from our readership – despite growing to provide the most comprehensive local coverage of the town. We hope our readers value our work enough to pay for it and guarantee it’s future.

Becoming a supporter is easy. Just click this link – – and click the orange ‘BECOME A PATRON’ button. Select which option you want – €1 or €2 per week – and click ‘CONTINUE’. Sign up to Patreon with your Facebook account or by entertaining your details and hitting the orange ‘SIGN UP’ button.

You’ll then be taken to a page when you enter your credit/debit card or Paypal details – and your shipping address (so we can send you your rewards!). That’s it. The whole process will take between 60 seconds and five minutes, depending how quick you are.

Ruth, originally from Ardee, was in attendance at Dublin’s Clayton Hotel on Tuesday evening for the glitzy event, the 12th annual Irish Book Awards. She beat off very strong competition in the category to take home the illustrious prize – voted for by the public and an Academy panel. Over 50,000 readers voted across all 15 categories.

Lisa Harding (Harvesting), Sally Rooney (Conversations with Friends), Karl Geary (Montpelier Parade), Blindboy Boatclub of The Rubberbandits (The Gospel According to Blindboy in 15 Short Stories) and Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen (Oh My God, What A Complete Aisling – The Novel) were the other nominees in the category.

Highlights of the award ceremony, hosted by RTE’s Keelin Shanley and Evelyn O’ Rourke will be broadcast tonight (Wednesday) on RTE ONE, starting at 9.35pm. It will also be available to watch on RTE+1 and later on the RTE Player online.
