One man was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda following a incident on the N33 Link Road in Ardee on Tuesday evening – but suffered no serious injuries.

At approximately 7.50pm in the evening, a vehicle driven by a male was travelling westbound on the Link Road when the driver began to feel faint and attempted to pull over in what he believed was a hard shoulder.

Instead, the driver collided with a ditch and left the road. Just one car was involved.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed that the driver suffered no serious injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution. Units from the fire service, ambulance and Gardai attended the scene.

A stop-and-go system was in place for a time, with some delays in the area. The vehicle was later removed.
