Badminton has been played in Ardee for many years and is enjoyed by both the young and the not-so-young. Ardee Badminton Club caters for all levels – from beginners to the serious league players. With four available courts in the Community School gym, the club can offer plenty of court time for its members.
The club competes primarily in the leagues of the Meath Badminton Association – from grade seven up to grade three, in Mens, Ladies and Mixed sections.
In 2015, Ardee Badminton Club were awarded the prestigious Club of the Year accolade for success on court and their efforts off court in promoting the game. The club has members who do not play league however still enjoy the social and active aspects of the game on club night. Everyone plays with everyone else which contributes to an extremely friendly atmosphere.
Ardee Badminton have a very successful and vibrant under-age group with kids of all ages and abilities – some discovering the game for the first time, others who come back year after year because they enjoy it. Emphasis is placed on having fun, respecting the opponents and fair play but there are still opportunities for the kids to demonstrate their competitive tendencies as the club do play friendlies against neighbouring clubs.
The weekly club night takes place on Thursday evenings in the gym at Ardee Community School. New members are always welcome.
