The largest soccer club in Mid-Louth, Ardee Celtic was founded in 1992 and continues to strive in providing organised soccer for Ardee and it’s surrounds from senior level all the way down to games for the 5-7 age group.
With three teams now competing in the North East Football League, the club are among the most competitive in their respective divisions. The senior side currently play their football in the O’Neill’s Sportswear Division 1, the second tier of the league, and hold serious aspirations of promotion to the top flight.
From Under 10 through to Under 18, Ardee Celtic juvenile teams compete in the Dundalk Schoolboys League while their Under 8 and Under 9 teams play in the Drogheda Schoolchildren’s Soccer League.
In May 2012, Ardee Celtic’s facilities at Townparks were officially opened by FAI Chief Executive John Delaney to coincide with club’s 20th year celebrations. The club’s superb facilities were the result of years of planning and ambition, with work first undertaken in 2003. Over the years, a clubhouse, several sand based pitches, a car park and floodlighting were built and installed.
Playing in the NEFL 2015/16 campaign, Ardee Celtic finished seventh in the league having made their first ever Tullys Bookmakers Challenge Cup semi-finals the previous year. In June 2015, the club appointed former League of Ireland star Trevor Molloy as their new First Team Coach but he was replaced by a team of Niall Taaffe, Conor Lynch and Paul Lumsden for 2016/17.
Stuart Reynolds currently manages the club’s second team in the NEFL Brady’s Seat Premier Reserve League while Frank Dowdall is at the helm of the third team in the Reserve B division.
Ardee Celtic are affiliated with Premier League side Crystal Palace through the CPFC Foundation, while they also are affiliated with League of Ireland champions Dundalk FC.
